Welcome to Malott.net

Welcome to Malott.net! This site is dedicated to the descendants of Gedeon Merlet, a French Huguenot that arrived in the “New World” of New Amsterdam (Staten Island) on October 12, 1662. There are a few spellings of this man’s last name, but in general all the people that have contacted me from the United States or Canada with any of the variant spellings (see note below) can trace their ancestry to this world traveler. I am one of these people – a direct descendant of Gedeon!

In the past year, an average of 3900 visitors per month come to this site.  That is awesome for a site that primarily exists to house a collection of genealogy information. Everything I have on this topic is posted to the site. I welcome contacts but do not have any other facts that are not posted.  However, I have not posted information for living relatives or the parents of my cousins.

I have obtained permission to re-post articles to the best of my ability. However, if there is something on the site that you wrote and do not want shared I will gladly take it down – just ask. The genealogy community is a pretty awesome bunch of people generally eager to share what they learn – and for that I am very grateful. If you would like to submit relevant information to be posted here please let me know.

Thank you for visiting the site!
